StoneL Introduces Dual Module VCT

Unique Module Integrates Communications and
Open/Closed Sensing For Discrete Valves Attached to Bus Networks

Fergus Falls, MN (June 22, 2001) – StoneL’s exclusive Dual Module VCT (valve communications terminal) integrates open and closed position sensing, communication electronics, power outputs, auxiliary inputs and wire termination into a fully epoxy-sealed compact unit. The module also incorporates a terminal strip directly connected to the potted and sealed electronic circuits for superior corrosion resistance and vibration tolerance. Benefits of this all-inclusive package include cost reduction, installation efficiency, space-savings and exceptional reliability.

By eliminating extra wires and termination points, reliability and space efficiency are dramatically improved. The solid-state electronics are epoxy sealed to prevent contamination and make the module tolerant to shock and vibration. Water- and corrosion-proof contaminants will not affect the module as long as the terminal strip is not immersed.

Solid-state inductive sensors, which repeat within 1° of rotation with a 2° rotational dead band over a -40° to 80°C temperature range, are integrated into the module for the ultimate in position sensing precision. Standard bright green and red LEDS indicate open and closed valve position. Stainless steel or any conductive metal may trigger Dual Module sensors.

StoneL monitoring enclosures utilizing the Dual Module incorporate stainless steel bands permanently attached to the touch and tune cams to trigger the sensors. Settings may be made to the sensors simulating normally open or normally closed switch operation.

Dual Modules are available in a number of configurations, including DeviceNet Dual Module VCT, AS-Interface Dual Module VCT, SST-Solid State Switching Sensors, and SST-Namur Sensors. The unit can be purchased separately or as part of a Quartz, SolaR or Onyx quarter-turn valve monitoring system.
